Review Policy

 

Thank you for your interest in having your book reviewed on The Starlit Shelf! I love supporting authors and helping great stories find new readers. Before reaching out, please review the following guidelines to see if we’re a good fit.



What I Read

I primarily read and review:

  • Fantasy (including romantasy, high fantasy, and portal fantasy)

  • Mystery and Thrillers

  • Romance (contemporary, historical, dark, and more)

  • Select Young Adult and New Adult

I am open to both traditionally published and indie/self-published books.



❌ What I Don’t Review

To stay aligned with my reading preferences, I typically do not review:

  • Non-fiction

  • Poetry

  • Religious/inspirational books

  • Children’s or middle grade titles

  • Horror 

If you’re unsure whether your book fits, feel free to reach out!



📝 Review Format


Reviews include:

  • A brief synopsis (without spoilers)

  • My honest thoughts on the writing, plot, pacing, characters, and themes

  • A content rating (if needed)

  • A clear note if the book was gifted, part of a tour, or an ARC


I aim to write honest and unbiased reviews — not all of my reviews are good but they are all completely honest.



🎁 ARCs & Review Copies


I gladly accept ARCs (physical or digital), but acceptance does not guarantee a review. Due to time constraints, I cannot commit to reviewing every book I receive.


Preferred formats: eBook/eARC (Kindle format), or physical copies (U.S. only)


If your book is time-sensitive (such as a release-day review), please let me know upfront so I can confirm availability.

  • Goodreads

  • Instagram (@the_starlitshelf)

  • TikTok (@the_starlitshelf) (when applicable)

  • Amazon (if the book is officially released)

  • Book title, genre, and blurb

  • Author name and publication date

  • Format offered (ARC, finished copy, etc.)

  • Any deadlines or preferred review windows

  • Links to Goodreads or Amazon, if available
